Unlock The Online World: blogging tips, tricks and other information

5 DoFollow Wordpress Plugins-UTOW is now NofollowFree!

To celebrate the deletion of no-follow from Unlock The Online World I am making a post about five Wordpress plugins that I think are worth a look.

The first is NoFollow Free which is the plugin I am using. You can even set it to show how many comments a person has made on your website.

Second is Nofollow Case by Case which allows you to select some comments to make into nofollow while the rest is dofollow. Useful for taking off link juice for all those “I agree!” commentators.

Third is Lucias Linky Love. This is useful if you would prefer your commentators to use their own names although if you dont mind, you could just change the amount of characters.

Fourth is DoFollow which is said to be one of the first dofollow plugins for wordpress.

And last but not least, Follow URL, it removes the nofollow from all links on your blog.

Of course, there are quite a few other plugins available for making a dofollow blog but these five were the most prominent and raved about.

Please bear in mind that i dont know which ones are compatible with 2.51 and 2.6 of wordpress. There are a few people still using the older versions so this list is also for them.

Update: Here is a comprehensive dofollow plugin list created by Jeff Starr.

  • Only thing I don’t like about Nofollow Free is that banner it adds in the top right. Is that removable?

  • @Da Blogger – Its optional. You dont have to add it if you dont want to. I wanted to so that people would know my blog is nofollow free. If you dont want the banner its as easy as not putting in the tag :)

  • We just installed dofollow on our blogs. It’s a great movement. Thank you :D

  • Great collection of dofollow plugins! To my knowledge, there are a total of 14 different dofollow plugins currently available for WordPress. For a complete list of these, including full reviews, screenshots, and technical information, check out my comprehensive dofollow reference article. Hopefully, it will provide additional help for your readers to get involved in the wonderful dofollow movement. – Cheers! :)

  • @Jeff Starr – Thanks Jeff, I have added a blurb at the bottom of the post telling people about the article :)

  • Great post – I’ve bookmarked it for the next time I overhaul my plugins. There is also another plugin I came across and started to use – “Keyword Luv.” It allows people to have their keyword as their anchor text in their comments (if they want) instead of just their name.

Of course you could always type in your keyword as your name! That would be so cheasy and probably unappreciated.

  • thanks a lot and useful for my blog :D

  • All good plugins. I’d also suggest topcommentor too. The plug in rewards the top commentors of the month with a site wide backlink.

I’ve found this is a great way to get sustained readers and comments.

  • hey i just learnt i can get everything to identify a blog as dofollow etc from firefox……

  • Great, I just michelles plugin. I'm pretty new to the blogosphere and right away this "nofollow"-thing kinda bugged me. So thanks – I'm happy to say that my blog is now nofollow-free! :)
To kabonfootprint: From what I know google only penalizes you for dofollow-links that are spammy. Since this is only for comments you're safe just as long as you moderate them for spam or use askimet. (I'm sure you do?)
To webhost – Could you link to the firefox add-on?

  • A great plugin for Wordpress users who want to look for some good dofollow love.

  • I would love to know how to hand-code this, it seems rather a lot of fuss to install a plugin for what is probably changing one or two lines of code….

  • WordPress has some great plugins but none are as efficient as Keyword Luv. I’ve been using it and loving it.

  • Glad to have another dofollow blog to visit!:-)
Your blog is already doing so well so this would be more of a “thank you” to your readers, I guess.

  • The guys I use for my website hosting are pretty good. I wrote a review of them in the above link.

  • Thanks for sharing – having tried and implemented them,I think both commentluv and keywordluv are great for bloggers and commenters – Its also a great way to improve your brand too. The nofollow attribute still serves as an anchor to your site with no Search benefits.

  • I’ll check out these plug-ins fo sho. Thanks for putting them all toghether!

  • well no doubt wordpress hav good plugins support

  • Cool plugins! I’m just new to WordPress and I really appreciate great articles such as this one. I get so many tips and tricks to what I’m supposed to do in order to improve my blogs.

Now, I’m gonna use these plugins. Check back later for more updates!
