Colors, Outlines-Oh My!

Finding a good color combination can be frustrating as there are so many beautiful colors to choose from!

As you can probably tell, I skipped the outline step in my design process as it just wouldn’t work.  I am simply not artistic enough to be able to do it offline. Besides, I soon realized that Step 4 could easily replace step 2.

How did I decide on my colors? I went to Color Lovers and searched through the palettes until I found something that I liked. This palette is called “A Careworn Heart,” and was created by SkyBlue2u.

What do you think of my choice? What do you use to find a color scheme that you would like?

I also created a rough outline in PhotoShop. It doesn’t have any graphical work done yet and is just a rough prototype of where I went things to be placed.

So what do you think so far? I know the colors are pretty feminine but I’m a girly-girl at heart so I like it. :)

  • I have no clue which colors suit each other. This pink choice is definitely for women but I wouldn't suggest better. I'm rather into figures than colors.

  • It's a nice color palette. I suggest you to use color picker tool to use some other palettes. But I wonder what theme you're working on, have you finished it? I can't seem to find you're using the theme you design.

  • The color combination looks good and I like the way its laid out too and like you said, you're a girly-girl so that layout and color combination will go great.

  • If you are happy with it, then it is good :) However, if you want your readers to stay longer on your blog and maybe come back for more then it is a good idea to choose a light back ground and dark text.

  • Hi! My usual practice are just to mix and match it using Photoshop. I never know that is a website that provides colour matching. A pretty interesting site. As for me, I prefer bolder colours. Colours that are striking!I believe it will attract people.

  • The colors are not feminine – they're nice and calm. They'll make readers feel relaxed and ready to accept new knowledge – it's one of the best color schemes you could've chosen.

  • ''A careworn heart'' is a very nice combination. Thanks for the information . I will definitely go check it out.

  • I am looking for some changes soon in my blog !!!

  • I am color blind. I do use the color wheel for blending of my colors. :-)

  • I like the colors and i like your taste.

  • This is one of my handicaps too, i can study the color scheme for hours, but in the end i haven´t reached anything. I have to ask for help always.

  • I love the color scheme. It's very clean and easy on the eyes. I'd only make the pink part a bit brighter – as it is the difference between the right column and the center part is too big.

  • I love that colour scheme. Great taste.

  • if you use yellow color on the black color background, I hope it will have a more better look
